GROWNING IN WISDOM
PREPARING TO LEAD
At Ironbridge Christian Academy, our Bridge 56 program provides a purposeful transition from elementary school into the junior high years. Designed for students in 5th and 6th grade, our program combines rigorous academics, a Christ-centered foundation, and opportunities for students to take greater ownership of their learning. Through engaging instruction, meaningful discussion, and the study of God's Word, students develop critical thinking skills, strengthen their character, and grow in confidence and independence.
We believe these years are an important season of growth. Our goal is to equip students with the knowledge, disciple, and Biblical understanding they need to navigate new challenges, take responsibly for their learning, and prepare for the opportunities ahead.

5th and 6th Graders
No, Bridge 56 is not middle school—it’s its own unique division of ICA. Think of it as an intermediate school experience, designed specifically for 5th and 6th graders. It serves as the step between elementary and junior high, giving students a chance to grow academically, socially, and spiritually in a setting tailored to their age and developmental stage.
Bridge 56 provides a bridge—hence the name—helping students build independence, critical thinking skills, and confidence, while still benefiting from the guidance and support of a close-knit school community. It’s the perfect way to prepare for the challenges and opportunities of junior high while celebrating the unique stage of 5th and 6th grade.
Students engage in math, reading and literature, science, history, Bible, and enrichment electives, all designed to challenge and engage 5th and 6th graders.
Bridge 56 combines the supportive structure of elementary school with the independent learning and critical thinking skills needed for middle school, offering a balance that meets the unique needs of this age group.
Absolutely. Students finish Bridge 56 with strong academic skills, confidence, and independence, ready to transition successfully into junior high.
Bridge 56 follows the same daily schedule as the rest of the school, with academic blocks, specials, and recess built in.
A block schedule means students spend longer periods of time on each subject, allowing for deeper learning, hands-on projects, and less rushing between classes. It gives students time to focus and engage fully with each topic.
Yes. Students may have different teachers for core subjects and specials, such as Bible, science, or enrichment, giving them access to teachers with specialized expertise while still maintaining a consistent, supportive learning community.
Some classes may be combined for certain subjects or projects, allowing for collaboration and mentoring opportunities. Other classes will be grade-specific to ensure content is developmentally appropriate and tailored to each group’s learning needs.
